What steps are required to register a new address in Dresden?

Upon arrival, you must register your residence (Anmeldung) at the local registration office within two weeks. Bring your passport, rental contract, and a completed registration form. The office will issue a registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung). This document is needed for opening a bank account, obtaining a tax ID, and accessing public services. After registration, you can also apply for a residence permit if you are not an EU citizen.
